Problem 1: By most accounts this is video has royally screwed up video encoding. According to one page, the video us encoded 30 frames per second progressive, and leaving all the interlace lines in. This problem is more noticable in situations where you are watching this on a standard TV, widescreen display looks a little better. A technical description can be found here. Workaround: return it for a full refund Discs Affected: ALL Players Affected: not a player issue Severity: 3-5, heavily leaning to 5 for normal TVs, leaning towards 3 for some computer and HDTV systems. There are some people that find their tapes looking better.

Problem 1: Pioneer DV-440 owners and a few others are experencing problems with their menus. Workaround: Skip to the title that has video. Discs Affected: volume 1 Players Affected: It was reported on the Pioneer Elite DV37 and Pioneer DV-440. The 444 models is possibly affected too. Severity: annoying for owners.

Now, I don't blame the authoring studio for this bug, but I do ask they find what went wrong so it doesn't happen again. The same studio made the problematic menu for Please Teacher volume 4 too, so there is some commonality there that needs to be resolved. For just one or two player models, I can't say it needs a recall, but I think it should be fixed for future volumes.
